2009 HD Heritage Collection.

It's very rare that I'll ever promote anything from the MOCO,
however this one's pretty cool.

This is the third and final year, and the two years prior
offerings didn't even get a second glace from me.
If you spend 300 bux at the dealer they give it to you,
(a $75.00 value).
...or if you're resourceful, you check E-bay. I got one for 45
bones, plus 14 bananas shipping. Not too bad.
This year's set includes five pewter-finished collectible
Harley-Davidson's Great Racing Machines.
Engraved plates identify each model, and the models include:
1923 8 Valve Board Track Racer
1928 FHAD Hill Climber
1946 WR Dirt Track Racer
1975 XR750 Dirt Track Racer
2006 VRXSE Screamin' Eagle V-Rod Destroyer.
The case is 25"x12".

The Plimsouls

If you were an 80s kid in So-Cal and didn't catch
these guys live you suck! I've been following these
Kats since late '79. I saw them about 4-5 times in
the 80's and once in the early 90's.

If you don't recognize them they did the song "Million miles
away" which was featured in the cult movie "Valley Girl"
Whenever they showed a live club scene in the movie it
was the Plimsouls playing (both of the songs in the video
below were also in the movie).

At that time in the early 80's they were the sound of the
Hollywood Strip. They frequently used to play the Starwood,
and the Whiskey a Go Go...I can still taste the Boonesfarm,
Southern Comfort and coke, and smell the clove cigs.
GOOD TIMEZ!

Don't forget to pause the music player below
before you start the vid.

"Oldest story in the world" and "Everywhere at once" (Live).

The first song in this Valley Girl clip is "Everywhere at
once", and "Million miles away" is at 3:49. Oh, and Nicolas Cage
was 19 when he appeared in this.

"Now" the studio version. Whenever I saw them live they
always played it faster.

It's all in the details (cont.)

Since Mooneyes was a wash (literally) I decided to finish
up some of the details I'd been putting off. Yeah, It's not
ground breaking shit, but it still had to be done.

First in line was the mount that I modified to secure the
peep mirror to the triple clamp. I never really liked the
shape and the powder coat was cracked an peeling off. I
flapper wheeled and sanded the paint, chrome, and copper
down to the raw aluminum, and shaped it with hand files
and sand paper. I finished it off with a wet sand and hand
Polish. I'll eventually send it out for chrome with a few other
bits I have.

Next in line was the nubs left behind from the
fender strut choppin. Here's what I started with.

...after some grinding.

...after hand files and 220/400/800/1000 sand paper.

...gettin ready for rattle can.

...after a couple blasts.

...and ready for assembly.

...and last but not least, my shop buddy Betty. She hung out
with me all day today.

Hot off the press Sporties from Mooneyes Japan

Bad news and Good news.

The Bad- "Sporty Specialties" is officially dead.
The Good- Kirk who originally sold it 2 and a half years ago
is starting it back up as "SPORTY PARTS". He'll sell new
and used parts for Sportsters, K models and custom
motorcycles from 1952 to present. The new web site will
be http://www.sportyparts.biz/, but until he gets it up you can
still check him out at http://www.sportyspecialties.com/.

Or you can give him a call at 714 879-0500 to let him know what
you need, and don't forget to tell him Johnny Wolf from the
Asphalt Squadron sent ya'!

It's ah-lie-eve!

Here's a couple of very crappy cell vids, proof that it
runs anyway. Not very well I might add, the gas has
been sittin' since June in that carb. In addition I need
to tune it. With the new pipe and a/c it's running
too lean....no biggie, I'll getter dialed in.

I dropped the seat pan off at Lil J's in Riverside,
I'll have the seat back before Saturday.

Don't forget to pause the music player below 1st.
